Fighters and Attack AircraftEver since this type of aircraft evolved, there has been a kind of romance associated with the planes, the pilots, and the missions they fly. The fighter has evolved from that simple wood-framed canvas-winged aircraft, to the deadly machines of today. In most cases it becomes a game of who-sees-who, first to gain the upper-hand in a distant combat situation. The dog-fighter, however, has not been lost. Aircraft such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the F/A-18 Hornet optimize the modern dog fighter. This web site is a member of The Aviation Ringa linked list of aviation web sites.
