Douglas C-124 Globemaster II

The Douglas C-124 Globemaster II flew as a prototype November 27th 1949. The Globemaster II had nose loading doors (pictured below) with vehicle loading ramps, a rear cargo hatch with an elevator for loading and an auxiliary floor for two deck loading. The C-124 had the capacity to load almost all of the Army Field Forces equipment. 446 Globemasters had been built by the time production ended on May 9th 1955.

( 174' 1.5"), Length 39.75 m. (130' 5"), Maximum take-off weight; 88,223 kg. (194,500 lbs.), Cruising speed; 370 km/h (230 mph.), Range 10,975 km. (6,820 miles), Radar APS-42 fitted in the nose projection of the model C-124C production run.
